As Christians we have dual citizenship. We are citizens of this world, and we are also citizens of heaven.
As citizens of this world, the Bible instructs us to pray for our leaders, submit ourselves to the governing authorities, and obey the laws of the land. However, as citizens of heaven we have a higher, eternal allegiance. Because our kingdom is not of this world, we ought to live with the things of God as our primary focus. The Lord will return one day, and our Heavenly citizenship should reflect that reality in the way we live our daily lives.
