Pastor Lloyd Pulley
Lloyd Pulley has served as Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Old Bridge (CCOB) in central New Jersey for over 35 years.
While a wrestler for the Spartans in 1976, Pastor Lloyd received the Lord in his first term on full scholarship at Michigan State University for Chemical Engineering. Lloyd was actively discipled in Campus Crusade, now CRU, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He received a call to ministry as his second year was ending, leading him to travel to Southern California to participate in a summer project for CRU. He then joined the ministry at Calvary Chapel West Covina, now Calvary Chapel Golden Springs. In 1979, Lloyd was brought on as a pastoral intern there and continued his ministry training on the job until 1984.
While interning at Calvary Chapel Golden Springs, Lloyd met and married his wife Karen, and soon the couple had two small children. Making their way from California to New Jersey in 1984, the humble beginnings of home-based Bible studies and fellowship soon saw unprecedented growth and development of the people who call CCOB their home church. Lloyd cites his call to the East Coast as being inspired by a passage in Scripture, challenging him to step into an area once impacted with past revivals and to rebuild and repair those once strong foundations. “Those from among you shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.” (Isaiah 58:12)
With a heart to exalt the Lord, equip the believer, and engage the community, Calvary Chapel Old Bridge (ccob.org) has seen many areas of practical ministry develop under the leadership of Pastor Lloyd. Early outreach began in Africa and Eastern Europe missions—now open and flourishing. Broken Loaves, CCOB’s Food and Clothing outreach, has served hundreds weekly in the surrounding community since 1995. Bridging the Gap with Pastor Lloyd, the radio program of Lloyd Pulley (bridgegap.org), began to air in 1994 on WMCA and then began airing on hundreds of stations throughout the country. The Bridge Christian Radio Station network was a huge acquisition for CCOB in June 2003 (bridgeradio.org). With the addition of a signal broadcasting from NYC, the radio now reaches a potential audience of 7-9 million in the tri-state area. Calvary Christian School (ccsnj.net), a private discipleship-based Pre-K through 12th grade school, opened in 2004. Northeast Biblical Institute (northeastbiblical.com) began in 2015, seeking to further biblical education for the hungry learner and to assist in the continued church plants that have come from CCOB. Bridge Women’s Center (bridgewomenscenter.com), a fully-equipped Mobile Pregnancy Center, made its pioneer voyage in 2020 offering free ultrasounds and pregnancy testing to abortion-minded and abortion-vulnerable women. The Center has seen over 130 women, with upwards of 200 abortion-minded women projected, at abortion clinics choose to keep their babies in its first year.
Pastor Lloyd is also the author of several books: Under His Influence: Yielding to the Work of the Holy Spirit, Everyday Conversations: Eternal Impact, and the Be Still 30 Day Devotional released through Bridging the Gap with Pastor Lloyd.
Pastor Lloyd can be heard daily on the Bridging the Gap with Pastor Lloyd radio program, and weekdays on Bridge Bible Talk, The Bridge Christian Radio’s first-ever live call-in program answering questions on the Bible and Christian living.
Pastor Lloyd and his wife Karen have two children and five grandchildren.
