This passage looks at the account of the man who was born blind, and considers the role of suffering in our lives. Jesus presents a paradox when he answers the question, “Who sinned? This man or his parents?” Jesus reveals there is great purpose in something they attributed to sin. He displays his Lordship when he restores the man’s sight. As the Light shines, some will turn away but others will see. Likewise, we “see” when we acknowledge our need for Jesus.
