The grieved and bewildered disciples don’t understand how or why Jesus is going away. Jesus’ answer is given to help them see a bigger picture. Jesus unveils the purpose for why he must leave them: unless he goes, the Advocate will not come to expose, convict, and rebuke with regards to sin. Jesus reveals our need for a Savior. We are no longer a slave to this world; the ruler of this world has been judged. but we must be careful about where our real loyalties lie.
