When soldiers put on their uniforms, they are identifying themselves as members of the armed forces, and as such are subject to a certain code of conduct that is becoming of their rank and position. So too when we identify ourselves as followers of Jesus, our conduct ought to reflect the standards of the One we serve. As Christians, our attitudes, speech, and relationships should honor Jesus, and in fact, help us to be identified as His followers. As Jesus said, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35).
